Mutton Kuzhambu/ Mutton Curry

Ingredients :

Mutton pieces – 1/2 kg

Ginger garlic paste – 1 tblspn

Gingelly oil – 1 tblspn

coconut milk – 1 cup

coriander leaves fur garnishing

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tspn

Garam masala – 1/2 tspn

To Roast and Grind:

shallots – 15 to 18

Red chillies – 10 to 12

pepper corns – 2 tspn

coriander seeds – 1 tblspn

cumin seeds – 1 tspn

Fennel seeds – 1 tspn

Star anise – 1

Brinji leaf – 1

cinnamon stick – 1 inch

cardamom – 2

Method :

1. In a pan roast the ingredients under to roast and grind each one separately to get nice aroma. Grind shallots  separately and other ingredients separately and set aside.

2. In a pressure cooker add gingelly oil, ginger garlic paste and sauté for a minute till raw smell goes off.

3. Wash the Mutton pieces two to three times in water and add to it.

4. Add turmeric powder, Garam Masala and sauté for 5 minutes.

5. Now add the ground paste to it, add required water, salt, close the lid and allow it to cook for 6 to 7 whistle.

6. In a pan add gingelly oil , onion sauté it and add cooked mutton and masala. Then add coconut milk to it and cook for 5 minutes and garnish with coriander leaves

7. It goes well with rice and roti.
